Hello! My name is Kevin Pickett and I am highly competent Graphic Designer from South West London. With two years commercial design experience behind me in both freelance and permanent positions, I have had the opportunity to hone my skills with various design studios for clients both large and small. Most of my time has been spent designing for print, however I am not one to shy away from the digital realm and consider myself a multidisciplinary designer who is ever striving to adapt and develop. I am currently looking to further develop my skills within a team of like minded individuals and work on projects that can challenge and inspire me. If you are interested in working with me then please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
I am currently working as a Creative Artworker at Echo Studios in Surbiton. The studio is part of a larger print and fabrications house that creates specialist solutions for museums, exhibitions and the luxury retail market. As a Creative Artworker my role includes setting up artwork from supplied assets for a multitude of formats on specialist materials. Working one to one with clients on several core accounts at once, I work from supplied briefs to roll-out nationwide and International print and digital campaigns. I also offer creative artworking to help achieve some of the more design led requests. Whilst working at Echo I have taken on new skills in colour balancing, which involves retouching images and running colour tests to ensure our clients are receiving a perfect print every time.
As a Creative Artworker my responsibilities involved designing a variety of print and digital marketing material for brands such as The Body Shop, L’Oréal and Lloyds. I took direction from the senior designers to create instore POS, magazines, brochures and packaging, as well as creating assets for social media, email and websites. During my time with Channel I further developed my knowledge and skills in design for the retail sector.
Based within the design studio for lithographic printers Action Press, I work closely with a small team of designers and studio manager to develop creative ideas for print and digital campaigns. My daily responsibilities included: artworking and designing print and digital marketing material, retouching, packaging design, typesetting and proofing artwork as well photographing clients work for case studies.
A highly varied role from which I gained a range of skills and knowledge of print processes. I was responsible for artworking and designing press ready files for a range of specialist and standard finishes, as well as overseeing print runs and assisting with pre/post-press production (e.g. cutting, folding, trimming, binding etc).
Establishing myself as a freelancer I provide graphic design services for local promoters, musicians, artists, magazines and small businesses throughout Brighton and Hove. I continue to work on freelance projects in my spare time and in-between jobs.
Working voluntarily within the marketing and design department for three months designing college news letters, editing promotional videos and artworking marketing material for print and web as well as typesetting and proofing the senior designers artwork.
